Proverbs Chapter I
- The fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom, but fools despise instruction and discipline.

Proverbs Chapter II
3 - 5. Yes, if you cry out for insight and raise your voice for understanding,
If you seek [Wisdom] as for silver and search for skillful and godly Wisdom as for hidden treasures,
Then you will understand the reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.
Chapter III

5 - 6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart….”
9 - 10, “Honor God with everything you own; give him the first and the best.
Your barns will burst with plenty and your wine vats will overflow.”
12, “For whom the Lord loves He corrects, even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights.”
Proverbs Chapters III - IV
Listen to my instruction.. seek wisdom!
3: 5-7 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight. Be not wise in your own eyes but fear the Lord and turn away from evil.”
4: 23, “Above all guard your heart for it is the wellspring of (your) life.”
Proverbs Chapter V and VII
Beware of loose women. Chapter 7 paints the scenario.
5:15, “Drink waters out of your own cistern and fresh running waters out of your own well.”
vs 18, “Let your fountain be blessed and rejoice in the wife of your youth.”
Proverbs Chapter VI
- how to get out of a hasty oath
- verses on poverty
- there are 6 things the Lord detests…
- warnings on lust and the adulteress
6: 6, “Go to the ant you sluggard!”
6: 27, “Can a man scoop fire into his lap and not get burned?”
6: 32, “But whoever commits adultery with a woman lacks heart and understanding; he who does it is destroying his own life.”
Proverbs Chapters VIII and IX
Wisdom cries out in the streets… she is more precious than rubies or gold…. (note that wisdom is also depicted in the feminine but in stark contrast to the adulteress from the previous chapter)
8: 13, “The reverent fear and worshipful awe of the Lord [includes] the hatred of evil; pride, arrogance, the evil way, and perverted and twisted speech I hate.”
8: 18, “Riches and honor are with me, enduring wealth and righteousness.”
8: 35-36, “Whoever finds me finds life and draws forth and obtains favor from the Lord. But he who misses me or sins against me wrongs and injures himself; all who hate me love and court death.”
9: 10, “The reverent and worshipful Fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight and understanding.” (again, like in 1:7)
9: 17, “Stolen waters are sweet and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.”
