The new family! Not only were the Gentiles cut off from God before Jesus but they were also cut off from his covenant people and the promises of Abraham.

By abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace.
Chapter 3:1-13
Paul’s overwhelming gratefulness that God gave him a part to play, “to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ.” (8)

This mystery (new revelation) is that Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.
3:14-21
Another prayer for believers to be strengthened by the Spirit to be able to grasp the Love of God that surpasses all knowledge.

Therefore
4:1-16, The Unity of the Church
One body, One Spirit, One hope, One Lord, One faith, One baptism, One God and Father of all. But unity is not uniformity. There are different gifts and callings in this new humanity with Jesus as the head.

When he ascended on high he led a host of captives, and he gave gifts to men, quoting Psalm 68:18

So that we may longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.
