protein synthesis Flashcards
stages of protein syntheses (only what organelles they occur in) IN ORDDER
nucleus
ribosmes
RER vesicles
golgi cisternae
Golgi
lysomes
secretory vesicles
exocytosis (cell membrane)
first stage
nucleus - genes instruct the cell what proteins to make.
The rewuired proteins are copied from DNA into mRNA.
mRNA leaves the nucleus through nuclear pores and delivers this to the ribosomes
second stage
ribosomes use the mRNA as a template
translated into a protein
done in RER
third stage
vesicles from RERmove the newly synthesised proteins
they fuse to form a golgi cisterna
fourth stage
golgi sorts the proteins and adds carbohydrate chains to make them glycoproteins
fith stage
lysomes bud off from the golgi
secretory vesicles (containing the protein) also bud off from the golgi
sixth stage
vesicles fuse with the cell membrane and release proteins outside of cell
