Projection Definition
Correct positioning term that describes path or direction of CR.
Is view a correct positioning term in US?
No.
Axial Projection
Any angle of the CR that is 10 degrees or more along the long axis of the body.
Inferosuperior
Axial projection where the CR enters inferiorly and exits superiorly.
Superoinferior
Axial projection where the CR enters superiorly and exits inferiorly.
AP Axial - Lordotic position (AP Lordotic Position)
AP axial chest projection for the apices of the lungs.
Lordotic (Lordosis) Definition
Curvature of cervical and lumbar spine.
Tangential
Touching (skimming) the surface at one point.
Transthoracic Lateral Projection
Lateral projection through the thorax
Dorsoplantar
CR enters dorsal surfaces and exits plantar surface
Plantodorsal
CR enters plantar surface and exits dorsal surface
Parietoacanthial (PA Waters)
CR enters cranial parietal bone and exits at acanthion (junction of nose and upper lip)
Acanthioparietal (AP Reverse Waters)
CR enters Acanthion and exits cranial parietal bone.
Submentovertical (SMV)
CR enters below chin (mentum) and exits at vortex (top of skull)
Verticosubmental
CR enters vertex (top of skull) and exits below chin (mentum)
