What does the Project Management Plan Document?
The What, Why, When, How, Where, Who, How much, and What if, of the project.
Who owns the PMP and who approves it?
Project Manager. Must be approved by the project team and the project sponsor.
What is the purpose of the PMP?
To provide a basis upon which the project can be managed and its success judged.
-It ensures that the project has a sound basis upon which to proceed before asking the sponsor and other major stakeholders for commitment.
-It provides a base document against which the Project management team can assess progress, change management issue and the ongoing viability of the project.
What is the deployment baseline?
-The PMP at the end of definition (linear) or foundation (iterative).
-Defines the why what when how much who and how of the project.
-Approved and baselined for the project.
Who has authorship, conducts approval and who is the audience of the PMP?
Authorship - PM developed with wider team.
Approval - Senior management.
Audience - PMP should be shared with relevant stakeholders to ensure common understanding.
Why is the PMP important?
-Stakeholder expectation management.
-Team guidance.
-Governance & Audits.
Describe the PMP throughout the linear lifecycle.
Concept - high level info in outline business case.
Definition - PMP primary deliverable from this phase. Used in the gate.
Deployment - Defines how the project will be run.
Transition - Review success against PMP.
