Program evaluation Flashcards
What are the 3 questions that need to be asked when evaluating a program
- Does the program work
- Does it have the desired effects
- What led to success
What are the four evaluations to understanding a program’s effectiveness?
- Formative evaluation
- Cost-effectiveness evaluation
- Process evaluation
- Outcome evaluation
What is process evaluation
It is determining the focus of a program or policy and evaluating it’s delivery strategies and alternatives to pick the best
What is the outcome evaluation
Seeing if a program is effective and produced the desired effect as well as seeing if this was done with participants who enjoyed the program
What is the cost-effectiveness evaluation?
It is valuation if the delivery of a program is the most cost effective in relation to it’s outcome. If it is not a good option, alternatives need to be evaluated
What is the formative evaluation?
determining what the demand or need is and identifying the ressources available.
Briefly explain all the stages of Evaluating a program.
First, the formative evaluation needs to be done to determine what the program can be and with what resources. After, the process can start to see who can participate and what they need to be a part of the program (training?). The, the outcome and cost-effectiveness are evaluated together to see if and alternative is necessary. This is also where we can see if the program affect people or outcomes outside of the program in the long-term
