Processing Model Flashcards
What is TAP and it’s main principle
Transfer appropriate processing.
Main principle is if we want to encode memory so it is better retrieved (we can remember it effectively), we have to transfer it as effectively as possible to make sure process takes place.
Depth of processing
Depth of processing is that for memories to be stored and processed most effectively and be retrieved, they have to be meaningful.
What does it mean if a skill is better learnt
Increase in storage/encoding, retention and more efficient retrieval. Can bring out skill more optimally
What is Craik and Lockhart’s model
Craik and Lockhart’s model is:
At the bottom, there are sensory features (visual stimulation/watching skill) and depth of processing is shallow.
Middle level is matching input to past learning . Coach will give CP and relate this to what happened before.
Most effective way of storing info
Is pattern recognition is when performer learns meaning of why they are learning skill
Applications of coaching of Craig and Lockhart model
Coherent learning structure - each experience builds on previous experience and has structure to it, we learn basic then advanced skill so we can build on previous learning.
Clear objectives provided - meaning of objective, what are they trying to learn.
Process goals- reinforce technique and performance, quantitatively and qualitatively judge performance.
Applications 2
Cognitive challenge - make athletes think, communicate and understand so they learn
Analytical skill - discuss what athlete about data ( if you do this, you will improve, stay square in scrum e.g)
Higher order of thinking understanding movement
What are factors which affect memory in Craik and Lockhart’s model
Factors which affect memory in Craik and Lockhart’s model are:
Consideration given to info
Whether info is understood
Whether info has meaning
