Principles Of Training Flashcards
What is specificity ?
It is where you need to consider whether you are using the same energy system, muscle fibre type, skills and movements. The intensity and duration of the training should also be similar to your activity.
What is progressive overload ?
This is where the performer gradually trains harder throughout their training programme, as their body adapts
What is Reversibility ?
It is where if training stops, then the adaptations that have occurred as a result of the training programme deteriorate. Tends to happen with injury, ill or break from sport.
What is recovery ?
Recovery takes place during rest days from training
What does the F stand for in FITT principle of training ?
It stands for frequency, e.g number of training sessions, work period/number of sets, rest periods
What does the I stand for in FITT principle of training ?
Stand for intensity, how hard you train, may use HR/BORG scale or one rep max to help
What does the T stand for in FITT principle of training ?
Time spent training, gradually increase and rest periods gradually decrease
What does the T stand for in FITT principle of training ?
Type of exercise. Where different forms of exercise maintains motivation, but the type chosen needs to be relevant to your activity.
