Principle 13 Flashcards
State Principle 13
All movements should be slow, continuous, seamless and as rhythmic as the ticking of a clock.
(P13) Why do we move slowly in Taichi?
An opponent’s attack on us will be continuous until we finish it. By being connected and seamless, a Taichi practitioner is trained to follow the actions of the opponent until success has been achieved. This avoids the trap of assuming One technique will finish the fight.
(P13) What sort of fighting system is Taichi?
Taichi is a very close- range fighting System consisting of a majority of grasping and controlling techniques.
(P13) What is the error of blurring techniques in the form?
People who do this are missing the point of practise. Each posture has a distinct beginning and ending. The mind must be focussed on the precision of each movement. The fluidity is based on the seamless transition from one posture to another.
(P13) Why does each movement have to be so precise?
The precision is necessary to create proper Taichi flow, and proper Taichi flow is critical to the cultivation of chi energy.
