Q

Explain the narrative structure of the novel.

A

Austen employs a free indirect speech as a type of third person narration, allowing the readers a complete psychological insight into the thoughts and feelings of the characters.
When this is not employes, she focuses on Elizabeth’s consciousness so we can sympathise with, and relate to her more.

Q

Explain the importance of letters in the novel.

A

It is thought that the original draft of ‘Pride and Prejudice’ may have been written in epistolary form because of the vast number of letters that appear in the letter, they are used to speed up the plot and reveal more about different characters -eg Wickham.
