presentation of quantitative data: tables and graphs Flashcards
what are the steps of drawing graph?
● choosing an appropriate graph
● labelling the axis
● drawing up an appropriate scale
● writing a title
what are bar charts?
● used to show data that represent different categories / groups in research (discrete data)
● each category is displayed separate from other bars to represent its difference
● mean / frequency on y-axis
● category on x-axis
what are histograms?
● used to display data that is continuous on both of the axis
● bars have no gaps between them
what are scatter graphs?
● used to display correlational data
● line of best fit not necessary
● shows strength and direction of relationship between 2 variables
● both sets of data must be continuous
