what is a case study?
A
● in-depth analysis of an individual, group or event
● involve analysis of unusual individuals or events
● mainly collect qualitative data: interviews, observations, questionnaires, experimental / psychological testing

what are the strengths of a case study?
A
● offers rich, detailed insight into behaviour - qualitative data
● enhances our knowledge of unusual behaviours in the persons natural environment, which increases ecological validity

what are the limitations of a case study?
A
● only 1 person investigated therefore it can be difficult to generalise findings to wider population
● personal accounts can be prone to inaccuracy and memory decay
