Unstable angina/NSTEMI
- BB - atenolol
- Aspirin 300mg
- Ticagrelor/clopidogrel
- Morphine 5-10mg IV + metoclopramide
- Anticoagulant LMWH (fondaparinux)
- GTN spray (max 3 doses)
Acute asthma
- Salbutamol nebs + O2
- +/- ipratropium bromide
- Moderate: oral prednisolone
- Severe: IV hydrocortisone
Dyspepsia
PPI
VTE thromboprophylaxis (surgical patients)
mechanical - compression stockings/flowtrons
drugs - LMWH or fondaparinux
Acute otitis media
- Paracetamol/ibuprofen
- Abx only if systemic illness/discharge from ear
- Amoxicillin
Epiglottitis
Cefotaxime
Croup
Dexamethasone
Reflux (paeds)
Mainly resolve without rx
- Alginic acid (gaviscon)
Allergies (paeds)
- EMERGENCY = adrenaline
- mild = antihistamine - chlorphenamine maleate
Depression
SSRIs - sertraline, citalopram, fluoxetine, paroxetine
- better in cardiac pls
- fewer SEs and safer in OD
Anxiety
SSRIs
Incontinence (urge, stress, mixed)
URGE - bladder training > oxybutinin, tolterodine
STRESS - pelvic floor exercises > surgery > duloxetine
MIXED - bladder + pelvic floor training (then as above)
UTIs
Nitrofurantoin or Trimethoprim
UTIs in pregnancy
Always treat asymptomatic bacteriuria
- Nitrofurantoin
- Amoxicillin (no improvement or sensitive)
Hypertension
- ACEi/ARB
- >55y/afro = CCB
