Why are the arts able to bring about change?
important forms of communication embedded within culture; touch cognitive, emotional, and physical ways of knowing; concentrate the message; move people to action; strong identity markers; inspires creativity, imagination, dreams for change
Describe the CLAT process
help a community define their kingdom goals; determine which artistic resources can be used to communicate the messages to fulfill the goals; spark creativity of new AGEs that will communicate the message
What are the arts?
communication systems differing from one community to another that rely upon and are bounded by forms
How do the arts bring about change in a culture?
affect change within a culture because communication systems that can move people to action and change
What is creativity?
people using their skills to bring into being a new artistic instantiation based on cultural patterns and symbolic systems within the community that communicates a message
What are the three approaches to arts in missions?
Bring It-Teach It; Build New Bridges; Find It-Encourage It
How does on Find It-Encourage It?
develop relationships with local artists; serve as catalysts for others’ creativity coming out of the community’s strengths and abilities
