What is prejudice

A

Prejudice is attitude/opinions on certain group / individuals

To pre judge people or groups based on stereotypes

How you feel about something : affect

what do about it : behaviour
and which know about it : cognition

Step one knowlege based on stereotypes

step 2 feelings of dislike hostility fear suspicion

and step 3 insult discrimination avoidance physical attack on others

What is discrimination

A

Discrimination is acting upon Prejudice

Behold allport’s five possible stages of discrimination:

1: anti-locution: hate speech on other people, this affects your self-esteem

2: Avoidance: avoid members of another group, may involve exclusion or isolation

3: Discrimination: denying the group opportunities, goods or services with the intention to harm the group, by stopping them from achieving their goals

4: physical attack : hate crimes

5: extermination: genocide, Wars created, getting rid of the group for good
