Second half of pregnancy (>20 weeks) up to 6 weeks post partum

What is the definition of Severe Preeclampsia?
> 160/110 with proteinuria
How much does Magnesium Sulphate decrease the likelihood of a eclampsia?
50%
Is Magnesium Sulphate dangerous for the foetus?
No. It crosses the placenta readily but serves as a neuroprotectant
Are Eclamptic seizures self limiting?
Yes
Protocol for suspected severe Preeclampsia?
Magnesium 4g (16mmol) over 20 minutes
-in a 100mL bag = jsut under 2 drops/sec
