When might you not do skinfold testing & why?
A
- client is unwilling to expose their body for skinfold testing
- if the individual is obese and have body fat under muscle tissue

What is a drawback of BMI and why is it still used?
A
- fails to account for the type of body weight
ex: individual with large muscle mass - easy to calculate in large groups

Client prefers not to expose skin, how do you proceed?
A
- do over tight clothing and measure difference between clothes and skin
- do waist to hip ratio

How do you calibrate skinfold calipers?
A
- make sure the dial is at 0 when the clamps are closed
- find a ruler and open the caliper until it is at 10mm/1cm
- look at the dial and see if it correlates with the ruler (should be at 10mm)
- if not, turn the dial on the caliper until it matches

When during the assessment would you do caliper testing?
A
- prior to the assessment so the skin is not sweaty

Client gets high caliper measurement at one location and ________
says “now I know what area to train”. Your response?
A
- you are not able to spot fat reduction train AKA lose fat in one specific section of the body
