Sick Leave- Accural
Full time employees accrue 4 hrs of time per pay period, or 0.5 hours for each hour of paid service excluding OT.
Sick Leave- Pay
Employees shall be paid their current rate of pay for each hour of sick leave used.
Sick Leave- Approval/ Notice
Sickleave shall be approved by designated department representative. Employees not ill from the job is required to call in before the beginning of shift.
Sick Leave- Immediate Family
Defined as a spouse, parent, sibling, child, grandchild, grandparent, legally adoptive relationships, current in-laws/ step relations, significant others, domestic partner and legal guardianship/dependent situations.
Sick Leave- Utilization
Sickleave may be used by employees who have; illness or injury, public health requirements, doctor appointment, bereavement or medical emergencies
Sick Leave- Illness/ Injury define
Incapacitated from performance of their duties by illness or injury.
Sick Leave- Public Health Requirement define
Attendance is prevented by public Health requirement
Sickleave – Doctor Appointment define
Required to absent themselves from work to keep an appointment with Dr. up to a maximum of four hours for any appointment.
Sick Leave- Bereavement define
Absent themselves from work subsequent to death of a member of their immediate family, up to a maximum of 48 hours per occurrence. (Sheriff/ designee may grant more than 48 hrs not to exceed 240 hrs)
Sick Leave- Medical Emergency define
Absent themselves from work to personally care for a member of their immediate family whose medical emergency requires employees prompt attention. Emergency leave shall be taken as sick leave. (Except for a 1x provision of 48 hours of vacation per fiscal year.)
Special Leaves- Military
Any employee with reserve status in any branches of the military, upon request to serve active or in active duty for training, shall be granted a maximum of 30 shifts of paid leave per calendar year.
Special Leave-Leave W/O Pay
May be granted to an employee for purposes normally covered by sick, vacation, bonus, or professional leave when all paid leave balances have been exhausted. (Employee has option to maintain max of 40 hrs of sick leave)
Special Leave- Maternity/ Paternity
Employee shall be entitled up to six months of leave for purposes of bonding within 12 months following the child’s birth/ placement for purposes of adoption or foster care.
Special Leave- Application/ Examination
Employee shall be permitted reasonable time off with pay during the employee shift to make an application and/or take an examination for promotional or transfer opportunity.
Special Leave- Catastrophic
When an employee suffers a catastrophic illness or injury and has exhausted all accurred leaves the employee may file a request for donations of leave.
