What is the management of postpartum depression?
Reassurance and support
CBT
Severe- SSRIs eg. paroxetine, sertraline
How common is puerperal psychosis?
Uncommon, seen in 0.1% women
When does puerperal psychosis typically develop?
First 2 weeks

PMH/FH mental health conditions
Previous puerperal psychosis- 20% recurrence

Often mimics bipolar or schizophrenia- severe mood swings, disordered perception
