Foetal renal problems eg agensis Intrauterine infection PPROM Drugs- eg ACEi IUGR
What is the presentation of oligohydramnios?
Small bump/fundal height for gestation
Foetal malpresentation
Prominence of foetal parts
Deepest pool <3cm on scan
What is the management of oligohydramnios?
Maternal hydration
Sevree- amnioinfusion
What is polyhydramnios?
Excess amniotic fluid
What can cause polyhydramnios?
Intrauterine infection
MAternal disease- cardiac, renal, diabetes mellitus
What is the presentation of polyhydramnios?
Large bump Shiny skin with striae Dyspnoea Chest heaviness Reflux Faint foetal heart sound
How is polyhydramnios diagnosed?
Amniotic fluid index >24
What is the management of polyhydramnios?
Mild= expectant Severe= admission, rarely theraputic amnioscentesis
What are the complications of polydramnios?
Cord prolapse
Placental abruption
Prematurity
Foetal anomalies
What is an amniotic fluid embolism?
Foetal cells or amniotic fluid enter mother’s circulation and causes reaction
What are the risk events for amniotic fluid embolism?
Induction of labour
Rupture of membranes
hat is the presentation of amniotic fluid embolism?
Majority during labour- can be during section or immediately postpartum Chills, shivering, sweating Cyanosis, hypotension Tachycardia Arrythmia, MI
How is amniotic fluid embolism diagnosed?
Clinical, diagnosis of exclusion
How is amniotic fluid embolism managed?
Mainly supportive
