what is PVd?
A
the vitreous membrane peels away from the retina. Usually affects one eye at a time.

what are the risk factors of PVD?
A
- short sightedness (myopes)
- previous eye surgery
- ocular trauma

What are the symptoms of PVD?
A
- flashers
- floaters
- ## painless

What are the signs of PVD?
A
- weiss ring (thin, irregular ring of translucent material floating in the vitreous.
- vitreous haemorrhage (occasionally)

what are the complications of PVD?
A
- Haemorrhagic PVD
- retinal tear
- Rhegmatogenous retinal detachment

what is the treatment for PVD?
A
- no treatment required unless associated with retinal tear.
- symptoms usually resolve BUT membrane doesn’t reattach.
