  • age e.g. nuclear sclerosis
  • traumatic
  • post inflammatory
  • Metabolic e.g. galactosaemia
  • congenital e.g in utero TORCH infections - toxoplasmosis, other rubella, cytomegalovirus, herpes simplex)
