Trapezius Insertion
lateral 1/3 of the clavicle
spine and acromion process of the scapula
Trapezius origin
medial 1/3 of superior nuchal line
external occipital protuberance
nuchal ligament
the spinous processes of C7-T12 vertabrae
Trapezius innervation
spinal accessory nerve (CN XI motor fibers)
C3 and C4 spinal nerves (pain and proprioception)
“3 and 4 shrug some more”
latissimus Dorsi origin
Spinous processes of T7-T12
thoracolumbar fascia
iliac crest
inferior 3 or 4 ribs
latissimus Dorsi insertion
floor of the intertuburcular sulcus of humerus
latissimus dorsi innervation
thoracodorsal nerve (C6, C7, C8) "C 6, 7, and 8 keep the lats great"
latissimus dorsi action
extends
adducts
and medially rotates the shoulder joint
trapezius action
descending superior portion - elevates
ascending inferior portion - depresses
middle or all together - retracts the scapula
Rhomboid Minor origin
nuchal ligament
spinous processes of C7-T1
Rhomboid Minor insertion
Triangular area at the medial end o the scapular spine
rhomboid minor innervations
dorsoscapular nerve C4 and C5
Rhomboid minor actions
retracts scapula and rotates it to depress glenoid cavity
fixes scapula to thoracic wall
Rhomboid major origin
spinous processes of T2- T5 Vertabrae
Rhomboid major insertion
medial border of the scapula from the spine to the inferior angle
rhomboid major innervation
dorsal scapular nerve C4 and C5
