posterior axio-apendicular muscles Flashcards
what is the medial attachment for the trapezius?
the medial third of the superior nuchal line, external occipital protuberance, nuchal ligament, spinuous processes of C7-T12
what are the threed parts of the trapezius and wha do they do?
descending (superior): elevates scapula
middle part: retracts scapula
ascending (inferior) part: depresses scapula
What is the lateral attachment for the trapzeius?
the lateral third of the clavicle, acromion and spine of scapula
what is the innervation of the trapezius?
spinal accessory nerve 11, and C3, C4 spinal nerves
spinal accesory nerves c3, c4 and c11
what are the main actions of the trapezius?
deacending(superior) elevates scapula
middle retracts scpaula
ascending (inferior) depresses scapula
descending and ascending parts rotate glencoid cavity superiorly
what is the medial attachment for the latissimus dorsi?
spinuous process of inferior thoracic vertebrae, thoracolumbar fascia, illiac crest and inferior 3 or 4 ribs
what is the lateral attachment for the latissimus dorsi?
floor of intertubucular sulcus of humerus
what is the innervation for the latissimus dorsi?
Thoracodorsal nerve (6, c7, and c8)
what are the main actions of the latissimus dorsi?
extends, adducts and medially rotates shoulder joint.
what is the medial attachment for the levator scapula?
posterior tubercles of c1-c4 vertebrae
what is the lateral attachment for the levator scapula?
medial border of scapula superior to root of spine
what innervates the levator scapula?
the dorsal scapula (C5) and cervical (C3, C4) spinal nerves
what is the main action of the levator scapula?
the levator scapula elevates the scapula and tilts its glenoid cavity interiorly by rotating the scapula
what is the medial attachment for the rhomboid major and minor?
rhomboid major: spinuous processes of T2-T5
rhomboid minor: nuchal ligament; spinuous process of C7 and T1 vertebrae
what is the lateral attachment for the rhomboid major and minor?
minor: triangular area at medial end of scapular spine
major: medial border of scapula from level of spine to inferior angle
