pec major, serratus anterior and subclavius Flashcards
whats the insertion for the pec major?
lateral lip of intertuburcular sulcus of humerus
whats the origin of the pec major?
clavicular head: anterior surface of medial half of clavicle
sternocostal head: anterior surface of sternum, superior six costal cartillages, aponeurosis of external oblique muscle
what innervates the pectoralis major?
the lateral and medial pectoral nerves, clavicular head (C5, C6) and sternocostal head (c7,c8,T1)
what are the main actions of the pectoralis major?
adducts and medially rotates the shoulder joint, draws scapula anteriorly and inferiorly
acting alone: clavicular head flelxes shoulder joint and sternocostal head extends it from the flexed position
whats the origin of the pec minor?
3rd-5th ribs near their costal cartillages
whats the insertion for the pectoralis minor?
medial border and superior surface of corcoid process of scapula
what innervaes the pec minor?
medial pectoral nerve (c8,T1)
WHAT are the actions of the pec minor?
stabalizes the scapula by drawing inferiorly and anteriorly against thoracic wall
whats the origin of the subclavius?
the junction of the 1st rib and its costal cartillage
whats the insertion of the subclavius?
the inferior surface of middle 3rd of clavicle
what innervates the subclavius?
the subclavian nerve (C5,C6)
whats the action of the subclavius?
anchors and depresses clavicle
whats the origin of the serratus anterior?
the external surface of the lateral parts of the 1st-8th ribs
whats the insertion for the serratus anterior?
anterior surface of medial border of scapula
whats the innervation for the serratus anterior?
the long thorcic nerve (c5,c6,c7)
