Q

a. After your non-surgical periodontal therapy, your patient complained about increased interdental space in the lower anterior region, sensitivity upon drinking warm water, and pain in gingiva, provide explanations (4)

A
  • Before treatment, there was gingival inflammation which led to the swelling of gums.
  • After treatment, the gingiva became less inflamed hence less swelling
    • The gingiva between the teeth, interdental papillae, is less swollen hence there is an interdental space between the teeth
    • The decrease in swelling will reveal the cementum of the tooth which will cause sensitivity upon drinking warm water
  • Due to instrumentation, the damage of the gingiva is inevitable.
