CEREBROVASCULAR ACCIDENT Flashcards
What is the main cause of CVA? (1)
Thrombotic Stroke
The blockage of an artery in the brain by a clot (thrombosis) is the most common cause of a stroke.
What is the cause of cerebrovascular perfusion? (1)
Cerebral perfusion pressure, net pressure gradient between blood and brain perfusion
23/F, radiographer, self-referred to your clinic to ask for extraction of wisdom teeth.
History: pain at wisdom teeth region for several times
Pan: 18, 28 vertical, fully erupted, 38 horizontal impaction, 48 horizontal/mesio angular impaction
a. More than 80% CVA is caused by what? Name one of the three factors causing this. (2)
Cerebrovascular accident / stroke, 83% due to ischemic stroke
By obstruction of artery supplying the brain like atherosclerosis, fatty plaque deposition on vessel wall
Life style behavioural (high cholesterol diet, insufficient exercises) / medical (DM) / other factors
(aging), hypercholesterolemia, hypertension, atrial fibrillation, smoking, previous experience, atherosclerosis
- Hypertension. C/O: pain on the lower jaw and continued for a period of time and ceased. But recently pain experienced again and patient cannot fall asleep. Panoramic radiograph is provided. (Formative, 2011)
