  1. State the layers that a needle passes through during an ID block (Formative, 2005)
A
  • Oral mucosa (superficial layer, intermediate layer, basal layer) –> submucosa –> sphenomandibular
  • ligament –> mandibular foramen
  • Pterygomandibular raphe
  • Boundaries: superior constrictor muscles and buccinatoe form the junction, which is pterygomandibular raphe (anteriorly) / parotid gland (posteriorly) / lateral pterygoid m. (superiorly) / medial surface of ramus (laterally) /medial pterygoid m. (medially and inferiorly)
