Post and Lat leg Flashcards
what is the path of the ant lateral femoral cutaneous nerve
branches run over top of biceps femoris on lower lat thigh
what does saphenous nerve supply and path
ant+ medial knee region
post medial leg and reaches the medial maleolus, terminating at medial border of the foot
Path of the lat sural cut. nerve and what is it a branch of
perforate fascia right away at fibular head and supply post and lat part of leg
Branch of common fibular
path of med sural cut nerve
perforates slightly lower than lat will eventually join lat sural to form sural nerve
Sural nerve path and innervation
Innervates the post and lateral skin of lower leg
Suplies only the posterior part of lat malleolus and post lateral heal up to pink toe
Post leg has these two superficial veins
short and great saphenous vein
path of short saphenous vein and what does it travel w
From post/lat maleolus ascends to about the midpoint of leg where it perforates crural fascia and disapears into the popliteal fossa and drains into popliteal vein (travels w medial sural)
where does the median marginal vein run and what does it then change its name to
runs ant to the medial maleolus, changes name to long saphenous vein and ascends up the saphenous opening and drains into femoral
what are the 4 compartments of the leg
anterior
Lateral
post deep
post superficial
what is compartemt syndrome and how quick does it occur and what layer is it most common in
condition in which increased pressue in fascial compartemnt adversely affects the circulation
Ishemic injury occurs in 4 hours
usually ant or post deep layer affected
what is the achilles tendon reflex and what does it test
calcaneal tendon is struck w a reflex hammer
S1/2 nerve roots tested
what is calcaneal tendinitis and why does it occur
results from microscopic tears of collagen fibres
w/ sudden increase in intensity of training
what is tennis leg and what causes it
caused by overstretching the muscle (medial head of gastrocs)
hard dorsiflexion
popliteal artery path and its branches
be deepest structure in fossa, passes med
will go to deep post compartent and split into ant and post tibial artery
what are the branches of the post tibial artery
fibular artery
lateral and medial planter after at foot
