Ant Thigh Compartment Flashcards
l1 dermatome
above genetalia to slightly below inguinal lig
L2 dermatome
top 2/3 of lateral thigh converging to a single point just under end of L1 dermatome
L3 dermatome
bottom 2/3 of medial thigh to slightly below medial and lateral knee
L4 dermatome
medial side of tibia just below the knee including medial maleolus
L5 dermatome
lateral side of tibia just below knee including medial 3 toes
S1 dermatome
above lateral maleolus to lateral 2 toes
Lat femoral nerve ant (level/path)
L2,3
superficial 10cm below inguinal lig
supplies skin anterolateral as far as knee
Lat femoral nerve post (level/path)
L2,3
peirces fascia lata
inverates skin from greater trochanter to middle of posteolateral thigh
Ant femoral intermediqte (level/path)
L2,3,4
supplies skin of ant thigh as low as front of knee (contributes to pattelar plexus)
Ant femoral medial (level/path)
L2,3,4
passes obliquely across upper thigh following sartorius supplying skin of the lower 2/3 of anteriomedial thigh
ant division of obturator (level/ path)
L2,3,4
innervates skin of middle third of thigh as low as knee region
Lat cutaneous of subcostal (level/ path)
T12
Inn skin over ant 1/3 of iliac crest and superiolateral gluteal region
Lat cutaneous nerve of iliohypogastric (level/path)
L1
Inn skin over ant 1/3 of iliac crest and superiolateral gluteal region
Femoral branch of genitofemoral (level/ path)
L1,2
Passes post ingional lig
supplies skin withing lat 1/2 of femoral triangle
Inguinal nerve (level/ path)
L1
Exits inguinal canal via superficial inguinal ring
supplies skin withing medial 1/2 of femoral tri
in between the two sheats of the fascia lata these 3 things path (from med to lat)
deep inguinal lymphatic node
femoral vein
femoral artery
where does the femoral nerve pass in respect to the femoral sheath
deep to internal sheet
what is the femoral sheath formed by (2 things)
prolongation of transversalis fascia and iliopsoas fascia
what perforates the femoral sheath to run ant to it
long saphenous vein
what is the long saphenous vein a continuation of
medial marginal vein + dorsal vein of great toe
what are the perforating veins of the leg
connection bw the superficial and deep veins
blood flows from superficial to deep
what causes varicose veins
when the valves are weak or inflamed the vein will dilate and blood flows backwards
if someone has lateral femoral cutaneous neuropathy where could you palpate to induce pain
Medial to ASIS along path of the lat cutaneous nerve
