Port Tunnel Response Guideline
A
- MVC- no fire or spill
Min 1 Rescue & 1 pumper or quint - Medical/other trauma injury (unless there are report of multiple patients, whereby multiple rescues will be dispatched):
Min 1 Rescue and 1 pumper, Quint or Aerial. - Minor HazMat Spill:
Min. 1 D.C. and 1 pumper and one Quint or Aerial - Major HazMat spill:
Class 3 dispatch, along with hazmat team, trt, and air truck - Structure or vehicle fire:
Class 3 dispatch, along with the HazMat team, TRT, and air truck.

Dodge Island Tunnel Control
A
- Miami District Chief should respond directly
- Tunnel control has cameras and change of direction air flow (vent fans)
- deluge fire suppression systems

Port Staging Eastbound Access
A
- responding from MacArthur Causeway(west) side, it is recommended to have the first arriving rescue unit close off the two left lanes of the causeway starting from the highest point of the MacArthur bridge to the tunnel entrance.
- staging should be no closer than 300 feet from where the causeway begins to the descend into the tunnel entrance.

Port Staging Westbound Access
A
When responding to the Dodge island (east) side, staging should be located on East-Port Blvd. just past the second intersection on the right. Both East and Westbound tunnels can be accessed from this staging point.

Port Tunnel (Size Up)
A
- In the event of a fire or a spill no entry into the tunnel should be made until contact has been made with the tunnel control center
- If in an unidentified spill has occurred, entry should be made with progressive and continuous atmospheric monitoring. Initial investigation should be conducted by the hazmat team to identify the product
