Electrical Emergency Procedures Flashcards
Electrical Emergency procedures
IC will notify alarm office to dispatch FPL
Do not report PCB over radio, yellow oil spill for PCB, and Blue oil SPILL for other oil spills. (Non-PCB)
Outside Emergency Electrical
The first arriving unit shall attempt to locate the electrical emergency
Full PPE including SCBA
Command considerations (electrical)
Secure area in all directions, minimum of 200 feet if possible
Cordon area
Keep it out all on authorized personnel, let in only properly identified FPL personal
Apparatus upwind where possible. If necessary standby lines charged and ready, or charge Siamese. Shut off should be made at meter or main control. No attempt should be made by fire service to disconnect the power from Main. Do not pull meters
Hose lines electrical emergency
Fog pattern only to protect exposures
No water should be used on energized electrical source except as a last resort
Recommended safe distance for fog stream is 15 feet, for solid stream is 40 feet.
Fire apparatus Electrical lines
If wires are in contact with vehicle, attempt to drive the vehicle away from the wires, if possible, or have occupant of vehicle attempt to drive it away from the wires.
If In contact with vehicle jump from vehicle
Vehicle Rescue (electrical wires)
If slightly injured, have them stay in vehicle until denergized
If tires start to burn fog stream. If it increases electrical problems. Occupants must jump free from vehicle.
If injured and need attention. Throw non conductive object at wire to dislodge it from vehicle
May be able to D energize electrical wires through a computer system
Inside emergency (electrical wires)
Officer and not more then two FF enter building
Full PPE
Extinguisher CO2/dry powder/halon
Electric command considerations
If electric is energized, it is not recommended that you extinguish the flame at power source until shut off is complete
Shut off at meter or main electrical panel.
Use hose lines to protect exposures only recommended safe distance for fog stream is 15 ft
Dike water runoff if oil is involved
PCB
Treat all Spills from electrical transformers involves an electrical capacitor mounted on poles, or fire at either source, as a PCB incident until the units are determined to be non-PCB
The officer in command of incidents involving PCB shall notify the dispatcher of yellow oil problems who will contact the appropriate federal, state, and local agencies.
Live wires in meter from
Contact Fpl to tape The outside of the meter box
It cannot be taped then disconnection of electrical service should take place
