POPH192 Lecture 24 - Chance II Flashcards
1
Q
what are p-values?
A
probability of getting the study estimate (or a study estimate further from the null), when there is really no association, because of sampling error (chance)
-uses the logic of hypothesis testing
2
Q
what does a low probability indicate?
A
if the probability is really low, then it is unlikely that the estimate is due to sampling error (chance)
