Function of the flower stalk
Supports the flower, keeping it upright to promote pollination.
Function of the sepal.
(Green) encloses the flower when in the bud

Brightly coloured to attract insects for pollination. Act as landing platforms for insects.

Made up of anther and filament
Anther
Contains developing pollen grains (which contain the male gametes). Opens when pollen is mature.

Supports the anther
Carpel
Made up of stigma, style and ovary
Stigma
Receives pollen during pollination
Style
Supports the stigma. Pollen tube grows down this to reach the ovary.
Ovary
Contains the ovules.
Ovule
Contains the female gamete (egg cell). After fertilisation by the male gamete, this will develop into a seed.
