What are the two major political parties?
Democrats and Republicans
What is the main difference between political parties?
Size and how involved the government is in peoples lives.
What is a party platform?
The parties view on major issues.
What is the platform of the Democratic beliefs?
Equality for all, more government involvement to solve citizens problems, higher taxes on the wealthy.
What are the platform beliefs of the Republican Party?
Keep traditional values socially, less involvement in peoples lives, lower taxes as much as you can, strong military, smaller government.
What are the platform beliefs of the Libertarian Party?
Government is only there to protect peoples rights. Should not control anyone.
What are the platform beliefs of the socialist party?
Lots of tax on the wealthy. People should own banks, insurance companies, etc.
What are the platform beliefs of the communist party?
Government should control all trade and food production. Very little military.
How do the 3rd party candidates affect elections?
They take away votes from the Democrats and Republicans, but rarely win any of the elections.
How do political parties affect the government?
Political parties influence policy’s and laws and determine the public policy.
What are some things that you should look for when voting?
What issues are important to you, what type of qualities you look for in a candidate, their leadership skills and qualities, what others thing- endorsements, contributors.
What are the requirements to run for US president?
35 years old, lived for at least 14 years in the US, and a natural born citizen.
What are the requiem to run for US senate?
30 years old, a US citizen for 9 years, and lives in the state they represent.
What are the requirements to run for US House of Representatives ?
25 years old, US citizen for 7 years, and live in the state they represent.
What are the requirements to run for Governor of Florida?
30 years old, a state resident for 5 years, and a US citizen.
