A

59-72 day gestation; Hemochorial placenta like humans!; litter size is 1-13 (2-4 avg)., weaned at 21 days

Q

Parturition of guinea pigs Know this

A

Pubic symphysis separates prior to parturition, 15mm separation two days prior with 25mm separation at time of delivery is key. Sows that are bred for the first time after 7-8 months may have dystocia due to failure of this separation. soooo breed before 6 months of age to avoid this.
