A
Alcoholism
Recent chest infection

Presentation of PM?
A
Acute onset
Potentially septic features (fever, tachycardia, low BP)
Meningism (photophobia + neck stiffness, headache, vomiting)

Other features of other meningitis’s?
A
Viral - not sudden onset or severe nature, no sepsis
Tubercular - immunocompromise (homeless, promiscuous/IV drug use) + non-acute onset
Listeria - immunocompromise, age >50, cranial nerve involement

What are 2 bad signs that may mean the patient needs ITU admission?
A
Low GCS
