when a plate subducts under another
sinking into the mantle pulling the rest of the plate with it causing further subduction

explain how the process of slab pull works
A
at the convergent plate boundary a oceanic plate meets a continental plate
the denser oceanic plate subducts beneath the lighter continental plate
due to gravity the oceanic plate sinks further into the mantle downwards

A
why some plates move more quickly than others
plates with larger subduction zones eg the pacific plate moves faster as the slab pull effect is stronger
