- Resource availability
- Employee capability
External
- Marketplace
- Social and cultural influences

Give the definition and a few examples of the Organisational Process Assets
Plans, processes, policies, procedures and knowledge bases that are specific to and used by the performing organisation
Initiating; Planning
- HR policies, procurement policies, etc
- Project Management Methods, Process audits, checklists, etc
- Templates, e.g. project mgmt plans, report formats, risk categories
- Preapproved supplier lists
Executing, monitoring & controlling
- Change control procedures
- Traceability matrices
- Financial control procedures
- Issue and defect mgmt procedures
- Organisational communication requirements
Closing
- project evaluation
- deliverable acceptance
Organisational knowledge repositories
- Configuration (versions of software)
- Financial data
- Lessons learned
- Project files
What is a tight matrix?
The collocation of the project team (unrelated to matrix organisation)
What is the project team?
And the project management team?
Project team: full team incl manager
Project mgmt team: project manager + people appointed to support the manager in the project mgmt
What is alternative analysis?
How is this different from cost benefit analysis?
A technique used to evaluate identified options in order to select the options or approaches to use to execute the project.
- using staff with lower skills levels instead of experts > consequences on time to complete, cost, risk
- renting a larger truck > cost more, but fewer trips?
Cost benefit analysis mainly refers to the trade off of (quality) benefits of the deliverables of the project to the cost. So not “how shall we do this activity?” But “is this activity worth it in relation to the output of the project?”
What is a performance review?
A technique that is used to measure, compare, and analyse actual performance of work in progress on the project against the baseline
What is what-if scenario analysis and what is it used for?
The process of evaluating scenarios in order to predict their effect, positive or negative, on project objectives. It is a data analysis technique that can be used during e.g. develop schedule
What is reserve analysis and what how is it used?
An analytical technique to determine the essential features and relationships of components in the project management plan to establish a reserve for the schedule duration, budget, estimated cost, or fund for a project
What is an affinity diagram?
A simple way of visually grouping ideas into themes for review and analysis. A data representation technique for process Collect Requirements
What is a cause-and-effect diagram?
Aka fish bone diagram or why-why diagram, grouping causes together in branches. Is a data representation technique for process Manage Quality
What is a logical data model?
Visual representation of an organisation’s data, used to identify where data integrity or other quality issues arise. Used as a technique in plan quality management
What is a matrix diagram?
A way to visualise the strength of relationship between different factors, causes and objectives that exist between the rows and the columns that form the matrix.
What is a probability and impact matrix and what is it used for?
A grid for mapping the probability of each risk occurrence and its impact on project objectives if that risk occurs. It is used in the perform qualitative risk analysis
What is the project life cycle?
Performing organisation’s methodology for managing projects, e.g. plan-driven, change-driven etc.
What is a project life cycle phase?
Example: Analysis, Design
