quality is defined as the fitness for purpose or degree of conformance of a output of process or process itself
quality management is the discipline for ensuring that the output, benefits and processes by which they are delivered are fit for purpose and met the stakeholders requirements

1.prepare to achieve project requirements
2.pm has to manage balance between, time cost and quality
3. outputs can only be fit for purpose if the purpose is understood
4.quality expectation and criteria defined

what does quality control entail?
- consistent inspections, testing and quality measures
- verification that the deliverables are fit for purpose and met the stakeholders requirements

what does quality assurance entail?
1.providing confidence to stakeholders that quality will be achieved.
2. independent reviews and audits
3.lessons and ideas for improvement
what types of project reviews might you consider to help quality
1.decision gates- formal review done at the end of project phases
2.post project review- done at end. provides record of project success, management methods and tools and practices. identifies lessons learnt. record of success for audit.
3. benefits review -review of benefits and their realisation. think demonstrate benefits and identify new ones
4.stage review-carried out during the project to review progress. looks at progress, risks and issues and lessons learnt.
5. audit - normally undertaken by an independent body. provides assurance to the sponsor that the project is being managed effectively. assures governance and processes are being followed
