Introducing projects- Project life cycles Flashcards
what are the stages of a Linear life cycle? (6 stages)
1.Concept -need identified. feasibility for project considered and solution identified- output:business case made
2. Definition -preferred solution further evaluated and optimised. Timescale, costs and qualities objectives set. output: Project Management Plan made
3. Deployment: PMP implements project monitored to realise the intended output, outcomes and benefits
4 Transition - Handover, commissioning and acceptance of the output to the sponsor and wider users. output: user acceptance and post project review
5. Benefit realisation- consideration of benefits which are often achieved some time after project deliverables have been in operation
6. Adoption- Operations and sustainment required to utilise new project and enable acceptance and use of benefits.
what are the stages of an iterative life cycle?
1.pre project- high level vision for project
2.feasibility -establish if its feasible and cost effective from business and tech perspective
3.foundations- establish firm foundations for project. preparing a realistic business case.
4.evolutionary development- the purpose of this is to allow spec and design to run in parallel to fast track deployment
5.deployment -bring into operational use either fully or incrementally using user experience to form next parts
6.post project- identify if the solution has allowed to the benefit in the business case to be delivered
What might a hybrid project life cycle look like?
1.concept
2.definition
3.deployment
