A

The intention is the sense of community between the Catalonian workers and the connection they have with the Earth. Praying for rain from God and the desperation these workers are feeling everyday brings sense of community whilst they deal with everyday aspects such as work and love

This phrase is danced by all six dancers on stage and is at the start of the piece right after the first repeted phrase.

write out the phrase

A
  • Draw leg up beside you in parallel retire position with your upper-body hunched over and your arms folding up inwards with your lifting leg
  • Step out of retire position with your lifted leg and continue towards stage left with two pivots and your body is still hunched over with your left arm out towards the ground and your right arm bending behind your back. Repeat 4 times
  • Place your right leg out in a second position towards stage left (facing the back) and do a circular table-top position with your torso and your arms out beside you
  • Bring arms in to cross in front of your chest and do a circular, backwards arch with your upper body
  • Lift your right leg and place behind you so you turn to face stage left with your arms remaining still
  • Move your arms in a bicycle like movement towards your body moving down to face up and tilt your upper back and head upwards
  • Devlope your back leg to the front and rond it around to cross in front of your other leg whilst slowly bringing your hands down
  • Develop your other leg in front with your foot flexed and bring left arm around to the front and twist upper body towards the front of stage
  • Continue stage right with your back leg and take two steps (like a ball change) whilst turning ending in a lunge position facing stage left with your body over your legs
  • Lift body up and face the back of stage with your arms folding out above your head then step into another two pivots towards stage left with left arm across the back of your head and your right arm across the bottom of your back

A

Gesture is shown when all six dancers do a bicycle, circular like movement with their arms towards their bodies moving down to face up and tilting their upper back and head upwards with lifted hand out. This highlights the plea to a possible god above to provide them with water and food for their work.

A

Falling is used at the end of the phrase when the dancers, in cannon, tombe towards stage right and into two steps with one arm across the back of the head and the other arm across the bottom of the back. This could show the challenge of the workers and the work they do everyday and how difficult it is for them as they are falling to the ground representing the tiredness and challenge in their work.
