Photophosphorylation Flashcards
1
Q
What does pp require?
A
ADP NADP+
2
Q
Steps of Photophorylation
A
1) photon of light strikes PS2 and energy travels to the primary pigment centre
2) light energy excites a pair of electrons inside chlorophyll
3) energised electron escapes and are captured by a protein carrier
4) electrons pass through each protein carrier, shedding electrons
5) energy is used to pump protons across the membrane
6) energy is captured by PS1
7) ferrodoxin accepts electrons from PS1 and passes them to NADP in stroma
8) proton gradient forms across the stroma membrane
9) protons diffuse out causing ADP + phosphate = ATP
10) NADP becomes reduced
3
Q
what is produced?
A
ATP + NADPH
