Glycolysis Flashcards
1
Q
Phosphorylation
A
> 1 ATP is hydrolysed and a phosphoryl group is added to glucose to make hexose monophosphate
another ATP is hydrolysed and the phosphoryl is added to make hexose biphosphate
each molecule of hexose biphosphate is split into 2 triose phosphates
2
Q
Oxidation of a TP to pyruvate
A
- dehydrogenase enzymes, aided by NAD remove hydrogens from TP
- two molecules of NAD accept H+ ions and become reduced
- Two molecules of NAD are reduced for very molecule of glucose and 4 ATP are made for every 2 TP
