Where does OP take place?
A
mitochondria

Q
Oxidative
A
- Reduced NAD and FAD are re oxidised when they deliver hydrogen atoms to the electron transport chain
- These hydrogen atoms are split into protons and electrons
- Protons go into mitochondrial matrix
> electrons pass along the chain of carriers
energy used to pump protons into the mitochondrial space
this causes a chemostatic potential
protons move through channel proteins
causes ATP synthase to combine ADP with a phosphate to form ATP
oxygen then accepts electrons and protons to form water
