Photography Flashcards
What does DSLR stand for ?
Digital Single Lens Reflex Camera
What are the factors affecting Exposure (or the exposure triangle) 3 of them?
Aperture
ISO
Shutter Speed
What is the ISO?
ISO my god I’m so sensitive
The light sensitivity of the sensor. The higher the value, the more sensitive the camera sensor is. In bright light lower iso would be used, in dark areas, higher iso would be used)
A high iso can introduce digital noise
Increasing depth of field (3 points) know how to explain.
1) Smaller aperture (larger number) depth of field increases as the opening gets smaller (f32 has tiny hole, can capture greater depth of field)
2) increase the camera to subject distance - back up to allow more depth.
3) use a shorter focal length ( wheel closest to lens) as the focal length increases the lens zooms and less and less of the depth of field can be observed)
What do you do if your autofocus will not lock into focus and camera will not take photo? (White on white)
Autofocus requires some elements to compare, move the point of focus on an element in the image with contrast (to something left or right for example) then depress shutter button half way down and recompose shot and take picture
What is the inverse square law?
No calculation questions on exam- however it is - the fall off of light.
Official: the intensity of light reaching an object is inversely proportional to the square of the distance between the object and the light source. (Flash light on ground in front of boot example- if light is too close to impression it over brightens at start and trails off at end, if light is moved back it distributes light more evenly along print.
Does changing the focal length change the perspective?
No, but changing location changes the perspective.
What are the 3 factors of the exposure triangle?
ISO
Aperture
Shutter speed
