A

Random timing- timing on the onset of primary ridge development in conjunction with regression of the volar pads, timing of onset of secondary ridge development (time of differentiation)

Random growth - ridge thickness/thinness, path a ridge takes, where a ridge starts and stops, ridge alignment, pore location and shapes

Random pressures - size/shape of volar pads, pressure from neigbouring ridges, pressures in the womb, numerous genetic and physical pressures.
