Fingerprint Photography Flashcards
3 important factors in fingerprint photography
- Proper exposure and illumination
- sharp focus (depth of field)
- fill the frame for maximum resolution
What is the 4 part sequence for photographing fingerprints.
Overall, Midrange, close up, ACAP
Use lighting source at oblique angle- in the lab at the copy table. Light is more angled from side instead of directly down.
Same as above
What is the photo sequence for palm prints?
Same as fingerprints ACAP, however you may need to take several ACAP photos of different areas of the palm print. Make sure there is some overlap
ACAP of Thenar side (by thumb)
ACAP of Hypothenar
ACAP of interdigital
If taking a fingerprint ACAP off window, how would you make it darker?
Either drop iso from 400 to 100. Or increase the aperture - higher number is less light.
Where is the best location to place a scale on a fingerprint impression?
Longitudinal to the fingerprint. Along the long side
