What kind of drug is pilocarpine?
A
Muscarinic agonist which acts on he M receptor to induce parasympathetic ctions through the upregulation of intracellular calcium which then induces smooth muscle contraction. In the eye it induces contraction of the ciliary body which increases the flow of aques fluud. It acts on the salivary glands to induce salivation- used to improve the symptoms in sjogrens and also in the eye in gluacoma.
