What is a perspective?
A way of looking at where behavior comes from
Neuroscience Perspective
Looks at behavior from the perspective of the brain, the nervous system, and genetics
Psychodynamic (Psychoanalytic) Perspective
Looks at behavior as being motivated by unconscious influences and life experiences
Behavioral Perspective
Looks at behavior as based on observational methods and environmental causes
Cognitive Perspective
Looks at behavior as based on mental processes - such as thinking, memory, and perceptions - in terms of gathering information
Humanistic Perspective
Looks at behavior as based on motivation to grow and learn and be in control of your life and behaviors (emphasizes potential)

Looks at behavior as based on each person’s potential to strive for growth and self-direction, motivation, free will, and to strive to be all you can be
